Pre-Purchase Reviews

The former "SLAC Policy on Purchase of Hazardous Items" has been replaced with the SLAC-internal site for Pre-Purchase Reviews by ESH Program Managers / Subject Matter Experts.

Many ESH programs require a pre-purchase review of selected items/materials by an ESH program manager/subject matter expert (PM/SME). For purchase requisitions (PRs), the review is triggered by a flag in Peoplesoft, prompting the relevant PM/SME to review. 

This process is intended to ensure that individuals and departments needing selected items/materials may acquire them, as long as they comply with applicable SLAC, California, and Department of Energy (DOE) requirements. It also helps ensure non-compliant items and materials are identified prior to purchase, avoiding costly returns and/or needed safety-related modifications.
